Seriously, we promise, it doesn't have to be boring!
Following on from our post about Men’s Health Week — where we highlighted the importance of physical activity for men — we want to turn the spotlight onto women’s health.
Because here’s the thing: physical activity matters for women just as much.
Not just for physical health, but for mental wellbeing, energy levels, sleep, and even self-esteem.
But… let’s be honest for a second.
How many times have you read, “It can be as simple as going for a walk”?
And how many times have you thought, “Ugh, I’d rather have a pap smear than go for a walk”?
(Ok, maybe not quite… but you get the idea.)
Walking can be boring as bat $h!t.
And if physical activity is going to work long-term, you have to actually WANT to do it.
Here’s the good news:
Physical activity can be fun. It SHOULD be fun.
It’s not about forcing yourself to do something that feels like punishment.
It’s about moving your body in a way that lights you up.
That makes you feel strong, joyful, maybe even a little bit like a kid again.
So how do you find something you actually love?
Here are some ways to get started:
✅ Think back:
What did you enjoy when you were younger?
Did you love dancing? Netball? Roller skating? Climbing trees? Chances are, you still have a spark of that fun in you.
✅ Think “bucket list”:
Have you ever seen something and thought, “Oh wow, that looks amazing… but I could never do that”?
Maybe it’s aerial yoga, surfing, archery, mountain biking, or even salsa dancing.
Newsflash: You absolutely can give it a go.
✅ Think movie magic:
Have you ever watched a movie scene — like someone boxing, ice skating, or doing a funky Zumba class — and thought, “That looks awesome!”?
That little flicker of excitement is your sign.
✅ Think connection:
Could you join a social team, a class, or a group? Moving your body while laughing with others is a whole different experience.
✅ Think small experiments:
You don’t have to marry an activity.
Take a trial class. Rent a paddleboard. Borrow a bike. Try different things until something sticks.
The bottom line?
You deserve to move your body in ways that make you feel alive — not bored.
Find what makes you feel good, and physical activity becomes something you look forward to, not another thing on your to-do list.
Remember: your version of “exercise” doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. 💪🎉
