Drumming in a group is a fun and invigorating experience which can help to ground people, enable them to connect with their feelings and provide increased emotional regulation. Clinical studies of group drumming have shown a marked increase in immune function and dopamine production and a decrease in stress hormones such as cortisol (Bittman, et al., 2001). Participants report feeling relaxed, motivated and confident with an increased ability to concentrate.
Caryn’s drumming workshops are accessible for people of all abilities, bringing them together in a creative, supportive and empowering space. Everyone has an innate sense of rhythm and drumming is a bottom-up brain stem calming activity. Participants will learn drumming techniques and rhythms whilst being guided through mindfulness and self-regulation exercises.
Caryn is a registered counsellor and a musician with over twenty-five years’ experience. Caryn is passionate about improving people’s emotional and mental wellbeing through the powerful medium of music and rhythm.
